Italian Simmenthal Beef Chain

The region has approved the funding for the "Italian Simmenthal Beef of Friuli Venezia Giulia Region" a project included in the Rural Development Plan 2014-2020.

The Italian Simmenthal (IS) Beef meat supply chain project is oriented towards the creation of a new regional supply chain in the meat livestock production sector, with the dual general purpose of:

  • consolidating and strengthening the production base of the IS beef in Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, increasing the added value of the participating companies in the sectors of agriculture, processing and marketing of meat, promotion in regional and EU markets;
  • provide the consumer with meat products that are knowledgeable and certified for traceability (ISO 22005/2008) and innovative health content. Through the supply chain project, the participants set out to implement the coherent and coordinated set of their integrated and individual projects, in order to achieve the general objective of increasing and enhancing the production, slaughtering and regional processing of red meat, as well as to promote its marketing on internal markets, to provide regional and EU consumers with certified meat products and innovative health content.


The participants in the project are:

    14 livestock farms, associated in a cooperative called "La Rossa Pezzata FVG",
    1 slaughterhouse, as an indirect participant,
    2 project coordinators: arch. Maurizio Trevisan and Prof. Edi Piasentier of the University of Udine
